German Captured 1915 Mosin Nagant

The bayonet is made by Sestroreck, marking with Deutschland is little strange as no place there for so long stamp on blade socket. Obviously were these stamped only with prussian eagle normally.

Any images of what the scabbard was originally?
These scabbards were purpose made by the Germans, the Russians didn't issue scabbards with the bayonets. The regulations apparently called for them to carry the bayonet on the rifle like the old musket bayonets.

The German made scabbards were also used on ersatz socket bayonets (with a different throat) and have been seen on captured Lebel bayonets as well.

Yeah, both variants show up. I agree it was a funny thing to stamp something so long on something with minimal space. I've seen the eagle (and have it on a Lebel bayonet), but I've also seen several with Deutschland (and even a couple of rifles with it on the receiver). The variant is covered with several examples in Christian Mery's revised book.

Here's a rifle that sold last year on Gunboards.

Some correction should be made probably, russian NCOs used Mosin in scabbards, anyway they are really scarce to find on western market, majority of soldiers have it directly on rifles other way attached on barell in transportation position.
Personally never saw a german made ersatz scabbard for Lebel bayonet?, as this was 52cm long blade, similar german ersatz scabbard for similar long blade exist only for S98. probably, when for Lebels so for shortened blade.
Deutschland is normally stamp which was done on rifles, on bayonets its not extra well as the area is too small, visible that the stamp was doubble striked there and the die was prepared for a plain surface as the socket has too small diameter to see complete stamp there, only up to middle part is here visible.
