I have seen multiple posts here and I get asked often.

Don Schlickman is a great guy and makes stacking rods and the HG clips for the kkw and DSM34 and other odds and ends.

Email is dfsjpn[AT]aol.com please email him a kind request for you trainer needs.

He has a PDF list he sends he makes all kinds of stuff mostly Japanese as that's his main focus.

Having a few Hand Guard retaining clips on hand is always a necessity, so many trainers are missing the HG retaining clips due to them not being soldered to the receiver like the 8mm K98s. Note: KKW and DSM-34s are different sizes, so best specify which one you need. Wait, is the KKW loose like the DSM34, I'm having a major brain lapse and am not at home so I can't look.

Mauser 99, are his HG retaining clips blued or in the white?

I’m not sure that I need a “hand guard “?
The gun on the left is the KKW, right is a Walter. Sorry picture isn’t better, but when I reduced it’s size it cut the bottom off.
It is weird because the plate doesn’t show any indication that the actual guard was ever attached . It is in perfect condition.
Any ideas?

you need a trigger guard! I’m no expert on these, but it appears to me that the t-guard you need fits over the plate that’s there. Pretty sure the rear screw, being brass & wrong shape, is a replacement. The front screw doesn’t fit the existing plate properly (lacks a countersink) but probably fits the trigger guard correctly.

I agree with Muncher. You need a trigger guard. It goes in top of the metal piece you still have. It would have originally had the guard.

Definitely needs a trigger guard and a set of screws. Attached is a photo of the parts for the kkw from Jon Speed’s book.

Yes, any idea where to get one or have it made ?
Thanks
Unfortunately, I don't have any, but I'll keep an eye out for you. Here's an old link on how to make the screws or perhaps the gentleman would do it for you.
That front screw might actually be the correct one, but hard to tell from the photo.
Regards,
Ken

It has been awhile, but as I recall, utilizing a donor handguard retaining ring off a Spanish, Swedish, or similar Mauser (US M1903A3, too.) rifle can be easily reworked to fit a KKW or DSM. One cuts off a wider segment of the ring, then using a appropriately contoured piece of steel or alloy rod as a mandrel, reforms the piece of ring accordingly. Having a original available for exact dimensions helps a lot, too. If the ring is too wide (either rear edge or underside one), thin them out close to the proper dimensions first, as it will make reforming the metal easier. In addition, because the ring O.D. is being compressed to a smaller size, a few very small relief "nicks" on the underside lip will help avoid a "kink" and can be filed off later. Last operation is to trim the ends to the proper length and angle. If you use a blued HG retainer, you probably won't even need to refinish it. BTW, Spanish Mauser ('93/16 I think and similar type) cut-down handguards also make very good replacements for a KKW/DSM with surprisingly few alterations (mostly at the front end where it engages the barrel band and back end where it engages the retainer).

Wasn't FAL G going to make some of these ...?

Done!

Though I have yet to CONFIRM that the KKW and DSM screws are the same size. I do not have a complete KKW, just a complete barreled receiver with trigger guard. From what I have, they seem to be the same, but I can't confirm that the screws that came with my sporterized KKW are original.

Fal Grunt - would you consider selling the trigger guard that you have and attaching screws ? For the KKW. Thanks
I would rather not. While I cannot confirm that they are original, I think they are. I would like to finish that KKW out someday as I do not have one in my collection.

I will look and see if I have a spare KKW trigger guard. I plan on making them someday, but that won't be this year.

I am trying to locate a stacking rod and a front barrel band pin for a DSM 34. Can anyone advise of a source please.!
