Given a GEW98, looking for Info, value, thoughts etc.

I was given this by my father in laws girlfriends, it was her brother's and recently passed away. it appears to be a German made gew 38, with a nickle finish. has bayonet with scabbard. in nice condition over all. Just looking on info about value etc.

That is a Gew98 not 38. Nice early date. Do all numbered parts match? Bolt, bands, stock and buttplate? Please show pictures of these parts.
The sling looks Russian to me. The bayonet I will let someone else identify. Nice gift! It shoots 7.92 Mauser ammo
 
Sling is not original but everything else is numbers matching. will it shoot 30 06 or just 8mm mauser?

I would consider selling it to as Iit isn't really my thing and would want someone to appreciate it. what do you guys think a fair value is with bayonet? it is missing the cleaning rod.
 
M24 yugoslavian bayonet refurbished and reused by germans, blued, barell ring removed and new serialed. The origin yugo serial is still on crosspiece, the newer german on blade ricasso.

There is a number on scabbard too, its matching? no good visible, but the side screw was too made by germans, normally there was a rivet above the hook.
