Help Identifying

yes its a model 98 Mauser…….
It WAS a byf 44 before export & use by proto-Israel, then imported back to Europe by Waffen Frankonia Wurzberg. Stock has been changed, should be cupped butt plate, other parts a mixmatch of different periods & sources. As there are no marks on the barrel other than ‘fww’ mark, are you certain of the caliber? The receiver isn’t “7.62” marked, but since the stock has been changed, and the barrel, I’d be checking that right off. Nothing wrong with a 7.62 Mauser, but something you’d want to know for certain before firing! Curious that it has the ‘fww’ mark but no other reproofing marks or numbers, could be under the wood, but atypical if so.

Oh I've been firing it for years lol, it's definitely 7.92x57, it's nearing the end of its life with me as it's been sitting in the safe a little too long now, it's been fun to shoot and always worked very smoothly. I knew I wasn't sitting on a gem but it's interesting none the less :)
