Hello,

A friend find today in Bretagne (France) this Lovec scope.

It's in a bad shape as you can see, and it had been sanded.

All the caracters are written in serbian, not russian. We were able to decipher "Serbia", "Lovec" and "Praha".
Does anyone have any ideas or information on this model?

Thank you in advance for your help

The Lovec Scopes were produced in Pragua Czechoslovakia . There was Lovec Scopes used by German during WW2 on their Turret Mount Rifles and also SSR/Short Side Rail Rifles . This Scope is not one of the mentioned scopes .

Hello,

Thanks.

Yes, I found thèse informations.

This scope is well stamped Lovec and Prague/Praha.
But in cyrillic letters.

Did Lovec product for thé Serbian Kingdom?

There is more real that the piece is commerzial product, when post 1918 so for Kingdom of Yugoslavia, here in case a hunter scope, the marking is in cyrilic also firm Srb and Stys Prague.

When you look on the "normal" serial numbers and the Srb "exra" serial numbers below you will note that the difference is both times 468. So this extra production got added its own extra numbering. Interesting and a bit uncommon for commercial scopes.

There is confirmed contract for Yugoslavian and Bulgarian government in 1934 around by this firm, but they made various optics, but there is a question it was this scope as declared for army use or more real its a Hunter as the model is so named.

Lovec was the "type name" under which to sell. If there has been a confirmed government contract, it may be anything, military sniper, police sniper, state forestry....

There should be exact confirmation what was contracted by Yugoslavia? I assume 9871 is the serial number. Lovec was probably predestined for Hunters, but could be used even by army weapons.
