Hello,
I've inhereted what I think is a Mauser model 98. It was my grandfathers, then my fathers, who told me ti was brought back from WWII. It has the following markings (among others): 1938, nazi eagle/swastika, three eagles/swastikas with the number 63. Honestly, I don't plan on keeping it and my brother isn't interested in a rifle either. Does it have any value? Where would I sell it so I don't get 'hosed'? I'd rather sell it to the end user or collector instead of a local pawn shop. I can supply more photos.

I’m not an expert and others will know more but this rifle has been sporterized into a hunting rifle. When this happens generally most of the collectors value is diminished. Although some people do like to restore them.

Not worth restoring. Another new member recently posted he just purchased one in similar condition for @ $400.00. Makes a nice deer gun though.
