I have a dual trigger mauser 8mm. It had a claw mounted zf39 zeissscope.(was stolen). It has a ribbed going down top of barrel. Has fancy egraving on the receiver. No marking on any part of gun. Story it was recovered duringWW2 at a SS office.

Have never been able to figure this gun out. I am looking for a genuine ZF39 scope with claw mount to replace one stolen.

Any ideas of this gun? Would it do any good to find a zf39 scope to replace stolen one. Not a copy. The scope might have been worth more than gun.Any thoughts on Value with or without zf39 scope? Only marking on gun is inside bullet spring plate inside bottom of gun there is a "1"

Tks

Custom gun, possibly American. Rib down the barrel that are integral to the barrel is generally a custom gun. Could the Germans do it? Sure, they had the machinist skill (all milling machine work). Clayton Nelson of Gunnison, CO does those on most of his guns. He doesn't engrave though.

Somewhere I have a dual trigger unit. Can't seem to find it right now.

Get farther from it and take more pictures
what Eric said & more light! outdoors on a cloudy day, or at least near a window, but indirect light.
Your idea about the contrasting light colored background was good, but rifle is too dark to see the details.

Looks like high end custom German work from the 1920s-1930s. Small ring action would indicate it probably started as a 98a.
