Identification assistance

My father left me an older Mauser with the following marking on the barrel. Once identified I will be looking for a replacement stock.
byf45
SN 37369
Manufacture code: 44D1003
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

byf45 - Mauser Oberndorf (main factory) made in TF late ‘44-early ‘45
37369 (may be datable)
44D1003 is the barrel code, made ‘44, D1003 = lot code
there’s a bit more to it but need those pix.

the trigger guard center distance & ‘large ring’ we already know, because we know a byf45 is a model 98, & those are both features of a model 98. Can you show closeups of the stamped markings of the metal? left side of receiver showing barrel to the rear sight, right side & top views of receiver, any marks on bottom of trigger guard & floor plate.

Bolt handle has been modified. Finish is pretty shiny for a 45.

Bolt handle has been modified. Finish is pretty shiny for a 45.

Also rear sight base has been “hacked”, specifically the handguard retaining lip and the “ears that hold the rear sight ladder.” With the bolt handle being worked over which is really disappointing and the other issues… probably best to leave it as is.
