Interesting Period Photos, 98k Missing Parts

Here’s a couple photos out of a book I was gifted, written by Hook, Sharpe and Davis titled “Elite Attack Forces, Waffen-SS, Elite Forces 2”

One of the grenadiers mounted atop the armor has what looks like a missing barrel band and hand guard. The rifle left appears to be missing the front band but it is there, just white washed by the light.



The second photo is of a troop cleaning his rifle during some downtime.

Very interesting photos indeed, thanks for sharing! The soldiers on the last photo appear to be wearing rubberized coats - perhaps motorcycle troops or dispatch riders

I am not certain, but I believe all photos in the book are of the SS. I am an amateur on identifying individual unit types

One of the grenadiers mounted atop the armor has what looks like a missing barrel band and hand guard.

A bit of a headscratcher since the rifle in the middle not only looks to be missing the front barrel band, but also to have the L shaped flat spring for the rear barrel band, but at the same time being a cupped buttplate? Small takedown disc, so Sauer rifle?

I would think its a not sharp picture and the upper rings are not good visible details, but the rifles looks complete.
