Thought I would share pics of my misfit girls. Both are import marked and complete mismatches but cool all the same. They both have excellent bores and function fine. I've had the IX for quite some time but the S/27.G I just picked up today. Your thoughts and opinions would be appreciated. Here are the pics...

That depot build is pretty interesting. That's the first one I've seen marked on the top of the receiver like that.

It is my understanding that very few have been seen marked this way and that no original piece has been found. All that have surfaced have been RC or early Romanian(?) imports.. One thing is for sure, it has proven top be quite a conversation piece..

I think it looks really neat. If your going to have a mismatched rifle, might as well be a really interesting one.

Would you be willing to post more information on the rifles? Photos of serial numbers and barrel markings would be helpful. As it is, your post is just showing things already seen - sometimes the details can really enhance the value, such as extending known serial ranges or unseen barrel maker marks. If not, it's understandable.

Would love to see one of these depot-coded rifles in original form, all known are RC. Would be a great study. But even in RC trim, they are still cool

I would be happy to post more pics of both. I'll get some more taken in the next day or so and post them up.

Awesome! Both are rare in collecting circles, and in some cases just one well detailed example can up the reporting by 50%.

Misfits or not, those are two beauties! I've never seen any IX marked K98s, thanks for sharing. No need to ever put a bag over those girls heads.

That IX is a great find. First one I've seen. My depot V rifle has a blank receiver with a small depot stamp on the side.
