Hey everyone,

I just bought one of those Browning VCI rust inhibiting gun socks the other day for my K98 Port Mauser. Just wanted toget your thoughts on these. Are they ok to use? Ie: safe on the wood, leather sling, metal, etc. I'm in the military so I'm away from home for extended periods of time and cant always do proper weapons maintenance.

Also are these the same as the silcone coated ones that Remington has? Sorry for all the questions im just new to these protective gun sucks haha.

Thanks in advance

The gun sock will certainly help protect metal, and will not harm wood or leather. The protectant will evaporate over time, so the sock will lose its effectiveness. It's still probably best to store the piece in a sealed safe with some sort of dessicant system. Only this will keep guns from rusting. FWIW.

I like Bore Stores socks and cases, too. They keep pieces from getting dinged in an already crowded safe. Link:
