KKW Repro Rods

The place I went to lost their machinist and so he doesn't have anymore. He said that he would contact me if/when he finds another one.

Greg might have a few spares ? The guy who use to make them stopped from what I heard. Greg is kkw22cal

looks like he beat me to it..

I have known three different people who have turned some out, sporadically, but none currently are making any. Will post a contact if I hear of production resuming.

Another option could be to find a local machinist to make one. Probably be expensive though.....

KKW Repro Rods.

There is a guy who lists a DSM 34 stacking rod among a vast number of repro Jap parts. This includes a large number of cleaning rods. He may be able to do it as he is already cranking out rods. Dons Reproductions,Japense Militaria dfsjpn@aol.com. The mauser rods are at the very end of the listing.
Hope this helps

KKW Cleaning Rods

I have contacted Don Schlickman and sent him the blue prints for making the rods. I await his reply. He does have DSM rods for sale. banjomike

A bit off topic but still relevant (I think). I am a bit confused with regard to the correct length of the KKW cleaning rod. The "official" length seems to be 12.6 inches (per blue print posted on this web site) plus photos from Speed's book (pages 178 and 181). However there seem to be photos of KKWs in the same publication that show cleaning rods that appear to be longer. Length would appear to be approximately 13.75 inches (pages 174, 184, 192, 197, 211).

Any insight, comments, opinions would be much appreciated.

Russ, although the blueprints and spec sheets call for 320 mm length, a good number of the rods noted in the guns will vary from that. Most notably, many rods from later-produced Gustloff KKWs tend to be about 5 mm shorter.

KKW Claening Rod

Gentlemen: I was given a 12 1/2" 22 cal rod today from a friends KKW to send to Do Schlickman to reproduce. When I put in place in my Mauser KKW it looks to short. Is it correct or do I need the 13 .75'". What is your opinion. Also when these are made, how many of the group need one so I can ask him to make enough? banjomike

Concerning rod length. I have (4) KKWs, a Mauser (D.F. serial number) a Walther & 2 Gustloffs. The rod in the Mauser KKW sits about an inch deeper than it does in the other 3.

All righty then, with regard to the length of KKW cleaning rods: apparently the length of the KKW cleaning rods varied from the "official specification". My question would be: what are the various length(s) of cleaning rods that have observed? Also are certain lengths of cleaning rods found on specific rifle manufacturers?

Any comments, insight, opinions, etc are much appreciated.

In my case with rod being deeper in the Mauser than in the Walther or Gustloff, it is not the length of the rod, it is where the nut is located in the stock.
