This is the most common variation of the ks98 found in south africa , leather handles make up 62.5% of all ks98s made . This is a 1904 erfurt , the beak shape was better finished than those made after 1909 , although its almost impossible to take a decent photo showing the difference (beak on left is 1904 , beak on right is 1910) . The RC stamp indicates the inspectors originally rejected the bayonet due to a flaw - once fixed it was stamped "revision control" , note RC also appears on trials model bayonets . The medal (Kolonial-Denkmünze) is for the 1904/1906 campaign to end the herero rebellion. The certificate is a modern day reprint but the wax stamp is actually the originally stamp used in 1904. 1904 erfurts are listed as R3 (scarce to find).
