Looking to see if there's any info on this Kar98k, the only thing that stands out to me is the buttplate is not like any of the other ones from 1944.

I can only see that it's a flat buttplate stock that hasn't been sanded down to a toothpick which is good, however we can't see the right side, the keel and the grip markings of the buttstock to determine what the identifying markings are. Without that it's hard to determine value.

Flat buttplate would normally have the rifle s/n on it. Looks like a WaA1 on it, so maybe a 1940 or earlier Gustloff stock? I think $1500 is high for a mismatched dot 1944. The bands would also be numbered to the rifle. I would agree that is likely a sporter rescue.

I agree about early Gustloff stock based on the Astrawerk butt plate. The takedown disk and recoil lug should also be marked.

$1500-$2000 is high for a stock mismatch. Those values are bolt mismatch into full matching territory. Like Bruce said, $800 to $1000. Being a flat buttplate and in a laminate stock, it's going to be a stock dated around the late 30's into 1940.

just a couple of observations, from the photos, (may look different in hand)
to my eye, both bands appear buffed & reblued. a bit too glossy (I hope I’m wrong)
what’s the mark on the sling buckle? leather has nice color, cross hatching is clear, but the two lines along the edge are missing, looks Norwegian, or perhaps Israeli?
