M 1883 revolver (some parts required)

Won this little project a little over a week ago. I've been wanting to get one for a while now to get a closer look why this revolver was selected for service over other options or designs available at the time.

It does need some work with the obvious missing parts (though I've never been picky about miss matched gun anyway), and I'm curious about the unit marking as it was not mentioned in the auction.

Good luck in the hunt for parts. I've got a 1879 in about the same shape. Found a new made safety lever- the seller wanted $175. Yikes!!! Update the thread on your progress. Thanks.

Nice find! I've always wanted one myself, though I have been holding out for a Mauser. I've been very temped by a few VCS CGH but they always went for more than I could justify. Congrats!

:ROFLMAO: You don't know the half of it!

Here's my 1879. Well, almost all of it.

In my opinion, you never buy a project thinking you'll make money. Haha

In guys like Nathaniel's defense, repro parts are an extreme niche market and take a lot of work to get right. I assure you he's not getting rich (when you consider than man hours invested in a run of them) on any of them and I'm damn happy he cares enough to do it for the community.
