Minty Pair--Mauser 71/84's

Just picked up these two at auction. Not normally something I collect, these are definitely the earliest rifles I own now. I was originally going after a G43 but walked away with these instead! Both are matching and appear unissued.

Immaculate shape!

Too bad the g43 got away, but these are a nice consolation prize!

I have one in condition like yours, Amberg 1888 and the bayonet to go with it too. I bought it from a friend but had to buy his whole collection of about 6 guns to get it. I have since sold all but a .22. I reload my own ammo and shoot it a couple of times a year. I have a few boxes of original ammo with a pouch. Still looking for an original muzzle cap if anyone has one to sell let me know.

Meridius great looking pair of 71/84 really hard to find in that shape and you got two of them the same day. With that luck you may still find a real nice G/K43. Sometime good deals come up when you least expect it. Thanks for sharing and good pictures too.

Wow, those are very nice rifles. Those old rifles in that kind of condition are always a good acquisition. Good job!

Thanks for the comments all! Any idea what this regiment marking is on one of the bayonets?

markings

Hello,

the unit marking B.A.XV.94. would indicate that your bayonet was used by the BekleidungsAmt, Betriebsabteilung Nr. 15, Waffe Nr. 94.

Very roughly translated to: clothing/equipment office, department no. 15, weapon no. 94.

This unit was responsible for the equipment, especially the clothing of the imperial army.

I hope this was the answer you were looking for.
With kind regards

Vincent

PS: it would be interesting if you could make a picture of the abnahme stamps on the back of the blade.
