My new DUV 41

Recently managed to get my hands on this beauty. The stock is in pristine condition as is the bore.

The best part....all the serial numbers are matching! The 214 Waffenamts seem to check out as well. There is also no import stamp visible anywhere so I'm assuming it could have been an American GI bring back of some sort. I also managed to get a CLC44 bayonet in pretty decent condition!

Here she is:

stock should be externally numbered...
The seller mentioned to me that the stock may have been replaced in the past, but he wasn't sure or not. He said he didn't have enough knowledge regarding the typical stock identification marks

Stock markings? Pics. Could MAYBE be an armorer's replacement, but until markings are seen, that is a mystery. I have a ce43 with an armory replacement butt stock and safety. Non-serialized stock, with only inspection marks, same the safety. You can also take a look under the hand guard for numbers.

Something I noticed in the very last pic, the bore looks shiny, but there’s been a significant strike on the muzzle crown, looks like a pretty good gouge. Not a problem for collectability, but likely one for accuracy.

Yes, very nice your hand guard is indeed matching.

Now, the stock, any markings?
That's the odd part, I cannot see any markings on the exterior of the stock. The previous owner could not find any either.

I took apart the rifle today and everything matches. The firing pin, barrel bands, receiver, barrel, bolt shroud all have the correct serials and the 214 Waffenamts.

I see the stock now, I think everything pans out to be a decent rifle

Infamous? Haha I hope in a good way! I got tired of playing the excessive bidding game on GB especially since there are so many faked K98s. Figured he had a lot of positive feedback and the rifle really matched the research I did so I figured why not. Buy once cry once right? 😂

He’s got a pretty poor reputation here, but to me has at least somewhat recuperated in the last year or two. He’s better than some of the other scoundrels at least

What did this guy do that earned him a negative reputation? Surely it can't be as bad as all the scammers trying to sell fake SS contract rifles on GB

He'll buy something and immediately (within days) relist it at double or triple the amount. Nothing wrong with that however it rubs collectors the wrong way. Also the bullshite hyperbole and failing to mention (or sometimes even show despite 150-200 pics) issues doesn't help either.

I think you're on the very high end of a rifle with a sanded stock (wood is key on these), however, being a duv 41 in it of itself, makes up for at least some of the difference. A decent rifle

I paid a heavy price for it but I really do genuinely enjoy the rifle so far. Cleanest example I've ever owned.

How rare were DUV 41s?
