My new MM410b (I think)

So I picked this up out of an antique store last week. The story was that the owner found it in the attic of a house he was clearing and the owner said it must have been up there atleast 30 years. When I got it I didn't know how it would turn out or if it would even be shootable, but after some serious TLC, some Murpy's oils Soap, and lots of Ballistol I now have one my favorite rifles. I'm hoping to shoot it for the first time this weekend and Ill be sure to let everyone know how it goes. I will be posting before and after pictures and yes these are the same gun, I promise!

Here is how she sits currently, there are still a couple of small spots I need to work on a little bit more but over all I am so amazingly happy with the outcome. Overall she is in amazing shape for the condition i found her in. almost all of the bluing has survived and there is only a tiny amount of light pitting around the end of the barrel. Not to shabby for a $60 gun....

It often amazes me how durable that metal finish can be. Great find, and great job with the clean up!

Great Attic find indeed

Yes very late production! The stock features and Serial number put it at the tail end of production.

These trickled out right up to the end of the war. They were expensive and not affordable to most, and the repeater was not configured for competition shooting which required single shot rifles.

The precise year it was sold is near impossible to determine and it likely either sat in storage unsold for some time or was assembled from the remaining parts very late near War's end.

Awsome job on the restoration, you are going about it right.

Thanks for sharing the story and before and after pictures.

Outstanding job..!

I love a project like that..taking something that looks so shabby and having it bounce back that much. What looked like junk turns out to be a real gem.

Very satisfying.

Congrats.

Incredible restoration, for the first pictures, it seemed hopeless. It is the last produced, maybe 1941?
Congratulations!!

Im hoping to make it to the range Sunday, I will post more pictures if the weather permits. What would it be valued at as it sits? Also if I wanted to put a vintage scope on it when shooting it what would you wonderful people suggest? Something that doesn't break the bank preferably.

Also if you look at the original pictures you can see that it had what was left of an original sling on it. The Leather was a complete loss but the hardware was salvageable. I want to have someone remake a sling for it using the hardware. Anyone know what was the length of the sling? Or have one they can measure for me?

God no!!!!! Im thinking claw scope that works with the existing rail (for lack of a better term) system that was built onto the receiver. I would NEVER alter a classic rifle
