need help, question on vz-24 8 mm

Thanks Cryrano..
I know this is a K98 forum, but you seem quite knowledgable in Mosin
A shop near me has a 1953 mint m44 Hungarian mosin m44.

I read the FInnish and Polish were the some of the best made..

Were Hungarian Post war M44 of good quality? Collectable? What is a good $ buy on this?

I never buy a firearm at a price I cannot easily off it …and get back my money.

My MN Carbines, would be one of my top 10 SHTF Firearms. Extremely robust, a lethal round, can handle the roughest conditions with aplomb, a proven Battle rifle.

I love my MN Carbines.

There is an excellent (tongue in cheek) comparison of AR-15'S vs. Mosin Nagant's. (I thought I had the link in my Tablet notes. Must be in an older phone.) Not sure what the Google title is, but sure it could be found. It pretty much explains it. (About the allure of the MN.)

It is also, Hysterical. 😂

Here you go:

A MUST Read. 👍😁

Ok you guys convinced me….

I bought the 1953 Hungarian M44 carbine with bayonet and looks like original web sling ? …..basically looks new and unused, all matching numbers on stock butt plate, , bolt, receiver, so on for
$525 on layaway……. How did I do?

The post-war Hungarian rifles are supposed to be really high quality. I've never owned one but I've handled a few, and they've all seemed to be really nice. Basically what you can get if you make a Mosin without the stresses of being in a war. Years back I new an old guy with a post-war Hungarian sniper and from all reports it was an amazing gun at the range.

I don't really follow the values of them that closely, but given what a bog standard wartime M44 goes for these days I'd say you did OK.

thanks…it was just in such great condition…I am sure I can off it if i want for what I paid. Will post pics when I get it. The kicker was the year on receiver was my birth year.

Mosin 44 made by Hungarians is ok for shooter, nothing strange there, Mosin never reached quality of Mauser 98 system, the ammo loading is problematic, bolt stacks. You will never found a hunters rifle based on Mosin, only by russians as they used the system for 70 years. So the Vz24 is ok only problem is who made some of the refurbishment postwar?. Allways is better found a untouched rifle in original period condition as any refurbishments.

Loading rounds one at a time, making sure to put the one on top, in front of the round below's rim. No problem.

I think for $525 you did fine. These Carbines are appreciating at a pretty good rate. Check completed auctions on Gunbroker and you can see some current prices.

thanks for all the info. Here are some pictures …Blue seems 100 percent, bore looks new…and stock is great. May be
a Hungarian refurb, that was done in Cugir, Romania. That would better explain all of the Hungarian parts and a
romanian bolt. Anyway it’s a sweet rifle.

Bolt is romanian here not hungarian probably. Similar carbines were not extra used, beech wood here. So i assume its a missmatch with the bolt, You should look for M44 made by Izhewsk from postwar period 1946_49.
