Norwegian Kar98 Navy 43

Hey guys I’m in talks with someone selling a Norwegian Kar98 Navy 43 8mm and just wondering if anyone had any recommendations on what to double check when I go see it in person. From what I was told it’s a good shooter and has a shiny bore.
The stock, barrel band and receiver are matching and the floor plate and bolt are different.

I’m still very new to all this and any help or recommendations would be welcome.

The navy rifles were left in 8 mauser. The bolts where renumbered to match the new serial number that was applied. Does the safety and cocking piece match the original number? How much do they want for the rifle? Army models usually bring 1100 to 1500 American dollars. The navy should bring more being more rare.

I was able to get two more pics and can deffenetly see that they are all different numbers, dose anyone have any idea what the “J” on the butt plate means?

The bolts of KNM navy rifles have not been renumbered to match the new Norwegian number. Same with K.art (coastal artillery) rifles, the ones which were left in 8mm Mauser still have original bolt, at least they should have it.

Here is a series of pictures of my Norwegian Navy capture rifle. Matching parts with the exception of a single lock screw, and exhibiting W. German import stamps.

Karabiner 98k 23.5" 8x57 #1598 (Norwegian, Mauser byf Oberndorf '40 & Kongsberg '55-'58, 98% Arsenal)
- Norwegian Surrender Mauser (42/1940) w/ matching receiver, barrel, rear sight, bolt & release,
shroud, safety, cocking-piece, floor-plate, rear guard screw (front is 80), follower, barrel bands & stock
(#1598 nose-cap & butt-plate, Heer/Infantry ("H") w/ Norwegian arsenal varnish)
- Norwegian Navy Serial # & Proofs (K.N.M. Nr. 1913, 8x57 JS, Anchor)
- Waffen Franconia (F/W's) W. German Import (2IG (Feb '86)
- Mellrichstadt Shield (1968-Present) & Nitro Proof (Eagle / N (1952-Present)

Always nice to see other Norwegian Navy Surrender K98k's, I have this one, a 243 1940. Mines a bolt MM though, as well as having a butt plate change as well. everything else is matching.

Thanks for sharing that, GeeRam. Yours is the only other one that I have seen. Cheers!

Mine is also a double Naval issue, as the stock is M marked, so it was originally a Kriegsmarine issue rifle. I bet there weren't many that were double Naval issue.
