Original G-43 13rd magazine! (sort of)

I came across this one last night on Gunbroker. Why anyone would weld two original G-43 mags together to make a 13rd magazine....

I suppose the top one could be salvaged with some work.

Its not the first one I have seen. It reminds me of the old phrase. Just because you can do it, doesnt mean you should!!!

Saw these back in the 1980s...someone was offering them for sale (maybe in SGN News). My observation has been, unless it was some sort of rare SLR, for just about every milsurp rifle that was ever commonly available with a factory 10 rd. magazine, some guy just had to make a "hi-cap" for it. This often consisted of modifying some other mag (usually marginally) to work in it. Even the Kar98k was not immune with clowns modifying once plentiful Mg13 mags as well...

A couple of pictures from Claus' web site of 20rd magazines made post war.

1st image - Another 20 round magazine (with original German 10rd) - no markings

2nd image - "A 20 round magazine, marked sjl, no WaA
Made after the war in Czechoslovakia?"
