Judging by the first couple minutes, now we know how all those K98 stocks got their "character".

Great stuff, everybody seemed pretty relaxed, but the gun camera footage inserted in there was a little strange..

oh, I may think of Germany. There are also links to other vids on the same subject from the same poster

...everybody seemed pretty relaxed...

These Germans in this video had it relatively good, having surrendered to the Western Allies.

The Germans who surrendered to the Soviets were treated horribly from the time they laid down their weapons until they were released (if they survived) years later. Heer/Luftwaffe troops were immediately stripped of anything valuable by their Russian captors and often physically assaulted all along their long journey to POW camps in the USSR. Waffen SS troops were typically executed upon, or not long after, surrender. If the Soviets were occupying an area and discovered a family had a son or husband in the Waffen SS, the family members would be punished.

In the POW camps the German prisoners were starved, wore rags, were quartered in shelters with no heat, and worked to complete exhaustion in lumber, mining, and agricultural slave labor operations. They were frequently subjected to tortuous inquisitions where they were questioned over and over about stealing Soviet property during the German invasion of the USSR. If they broke down and admitted to requisitioning so much as an egg or a crust of bread from a Russian farmhouse, their sentences would be increased by years.

And allied POW"s were starved . Canadian and American POWS were murdered...let alone what they did to russian POW's.... then the einsatzkommando operations , final solution etc etc... I shed no tears here. What goes around comes around...karma...was a bitch then too. I talked with a vet many years ago when I was a kid. A vet whom entered one of those KZ camps...at the time in 1945 he felt that all germans should be killed !.

If you read any revisionist history, you will question everything. Pictures show a flattened German nation, one with no more worthwhile bombing targets. No system of supply, communication, or power. In such conditions disease would have been rampant. Prisons would have fared the worst. You want to blame someone, blame the bankers.

The Germans were the losers. The victors could write history any way they wanted and the losers didn't have much to say about it. Over the years, after consuming as much information as I could on WW2, I have come to the conclusion that a hell of a lot of things about the war have either been completely ignored or were biased to fit the official narratives of the victors. Yes, question everything.

That is exactly correct. The victors write the history, no matter the conflict. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson would be nothing but common traitors had the Revolutionary War been lost.

Not sure if this is a holocaust denial ? , sure it aint but you paint with too broad a brush avoiding the "bias" aspect. The german nazi socialist arrogance & racism brought upon the wrath placed upon them . Did the german people suffer - hell yes. Did the suffering equal the pain they inflicted - hell no. Much of the nuts and bolts details of WW2 was ignored I agree. You just have to accept the insanity and delusion that reigned in germany that allowed a psychopath and his minions to indulge in another world war and genocide like it was a fair game of cricket just cannot be sugar coated then or now.
That germany was allowed , encouraged and funded to recover and prosper under western "standards" was necessarry . Was that a painfull transition away from autocratic and maniacal past trends... No. Eastern germany the exception - well we all know how well that went with one socialism diktater thingy for another.

Can anyone identify the totenkopf medal in wear at 9:43?
I have never seen such an award.

Hello,

It's the Panzerkampfabzeichen der Legion Condor(Tank Battle Badge Legion Condor) for the service in the Spanish civil war.

To the other part of the conversation here, the normal and little people couldn't change anything in politics and I think the majority at that time has never heard about Einsatzgruppen and the final solution. I have tears for the innocent people in Germany and from all other nations who died.

Stephan ; I agree about such change in society being hard..not impossible. Look how hitler and his minions turned germany around to be so anti-semetic so fast to attain their goals over the largess of the population that knew not otherwise. It's sad so many followed that tripe in lockstep. Much akin to today's brand of liberal socialist dogma.
It personally grates me when I see lamenting for one side like it's oh so bad... and that side dished out worse and more. Kinda like someone saying how bad the khmer rouge had it after vietnam handed them their arse in the late 70"s...... and today still they are handing out weak sentences for those mass murderers.
I soured on WW2 collecting alot when I met more than a couple closet nazis.... they might as well be black panthers or communist swine to me.
The russian communists did not film their genocide in the ukraine during the 1920's like the german nazis did theirs ....had they done so...what a different perspective of that murder we would have collectively. Ah , how soon we forget and history repeats.
