PwB marked Kar 98 a....Pics added

I just picked up a PwB marked Kar98a won't have photos til this weekend...It's a Danzig 1910/1920 dated piece...It has even been through a ww2 rebuild...It is in it's original stock which has had a takedown ring added and it's marked e/4.. It is a bolt mismatch but has a correct bolt in it...But the bad thing is bubba took possession of it first and decided to cut the stock and handguard right in front of the middle band...A duffle cut repair candidate...but the worse part is they cut the unnumbered e/6 stamped handguard....And finally the original butt plate has PwB on top...My questions are what does the PwB stand for and secondly can you do a duffle cut type repair to a hand guard? It doesn't seem like there is enough wood to make a good splice.. Thanks, Mike .......Pics added

Polizeiwehr Bayern probably. Pics?

It was a short lived Bavarian Police force, late 1919 through 1920, they were heavily armed (for police), and the Entente naturally considered them a violation of the terms of the treaty. Throughout the interwar period this type of thing was the main sticking point (reparations & effectives clauses caused the most problems) between German and Britain, France, Belgium (especially France). The French were obsessed with Germany hiding potential soldiers, which Germany did of course, as they were surrounded by hostile forces manytimes their size.

Anyway, PwB stuff is hard to find, do some pictures.

Added Pics in original post

Pics added...It is interesting to see the BSW trigger guard screw that matches and it's too bad about e/6 marked hand guard, whats's left is really nice.. Worth restoring?

cool rifle i think it certainly deserves a resto....although finding a kar98 donor stock might be a b*tch to find.

One thing that i think has not been mentioned yet is that the Su4 on the takedown disk means that the rifle went through the Spandau wepons depot sometime during the third reich period.
