Removing Gas Block on an MP44 Barrel

At the risk of looking even more naive about things of this nature….what may I ask is a “Barrel Fitting Tool, that uses allthreads” is? Let alone, where might someone find something like this?

I lieu of a hydraulic press, special blocks are used in conjunction with all thread and nuts to push/pull components either on or off their positions on the barrel.

Mostly, these would be home made and can be made with fairly basic tools.

It seems to me that the obvious answer to remove the gas block after removing the retaining pins is heat, to expand the block, and then simply tap it off with a piece of steel and a brass hammer??? Or is that not correct?

Yes, that can certainly work in many circumstances and it's honestly the cheapest/easiest method. It just doesn't always work so easily.

Hit it with a hammer. doesnt come off, must be an electrical problem..

In all seriousness. I would get some plastic or soft vice jaws made to hold a barrel in the vise. Remove the gas block pins. They could be tapered so keep that in mind. I would use kroil or some other penetrating oil and let the block soak for a few hours to a day. Then apply heat on the block and barrel section. Dont need red hot. Now with either a brass punch( brass marks can be removed with cold blueing) or a piece of of wood, and hammer that bad boy off.
