Research Project-- 1888 Commission Models Triggerguard Subcontractors

Hi All,

After chatting on this topic with Paul, it's apparent that some trigger guards on Mod 88 rifle/carbines have a subcontractor trademark on the interior (in addition to the normal letters from workers). This prompted me to take a look at my 88s with matching trigger guards and note any observations.

This is probably going to be difficult to get a large sample size, but we may be able to note some commonalities relative to maker/year. I've posted pictures of possible trademarks I've found on mine.

Any assistance from fellow 88 collectors would be appreciated in checking their rifles/carbines. If you would rather not share publicly, please pm and all anonymously add to the list.

Where is this found? I just bought an 88/05. My rifle is s Turkish re-barrel 88/05 Spandau 1890 serial number 1388 with an “o” below the number. Here are pics of the trigger guard

Kar88 barrel bands

Not sure if I am in the correct place here. Just had a person tell me that there is someone that is reproducing rear barrel bands (not the front winged one) for these rifles. If anyone has info it would be greatly appreciated. Last part I need for a restoration!
