S/147 1937 - 6769 No Letter - All Matching

The latest addition to my small and growing family. I'm very happy with this one, considering I took a bit of a chance on it with the photos on Gunbonker not showing all the parts.

I haven't had a chance to get it apart yet but all the external numbers are matching down to the screws. I will try and get it apart to make sure there's no rust under the wood this weekend, but someone really chewed up the rear band. Rear spring is pretty stiff as well.

The rear sight spring is also busted so the sight leaf kinda flops up and down freely.

I wanted to post this since I haven't seen a no letter block JP Sauer from 1937 on this forum yet and I'm aware no letter block rifles are often humped.

Cleaning rod is original but not matching to the gun, only one digit off from a cleaning rod I need for a different rifle as well, such as life.

I appreciate any thoughts on the rifle and if anyone has any questions or wants to see any additional photos, I will be happy to take them. I try to document everything I can to help other novice collectors like myself.

Very nice, I was watching that rifle but went for the SS contract bnz 43 single rune (didn't win it) instead. I honestly expected it to go way, way higher but that price for a matching example just can't be beat. I interpreted there description as the rear barrel band and handguard being mismatched. Now I'm kicking myself for not taking a crack at it 🤣 the indecisive bug has but me one again lol

A very elated congratulations to you tho :) even for a worn 1937, she's got good bluing imo for what that rifle must have gone thru.

Finding an intact pre-war K98k in any sort of decent shape is becoming more and more of a challenge these days, congrats on an honest JPS! I'm definitely curious to see what it looks like underneath the wood line, probably untouched bluing judging by how immaculate the screw slots are.

Great buy on this one. I was watching it too. The sellers photos were poor. I thought the stock might have been sanded. Looks great with your much better photos!

Thank you! The description definitely didn't make it clear what was and was not matching, but I just had a good feeling about this one. Sometimes it's best to go with your gut. There's still plenty of good deals to be had, even on GB, if you dig enough. Most GB buyers are turned off by "ugly" rifles and prefer the pimp shined Mitchell's lol.

They were incredibly blurry, I even told him he'd get more out of it with clearer photos of all the numbers. Some sellers are primarily focused on moving a high volume of guns though, and the fine details are overlooked.

I love ugly and honest rifles 🫡 my AX 41 and DOU 44 b block come to mind also with my 1937 Erma Könisgberg rework.

Wenn man bedenkt, wie lange die K98s im Einsatz waren...Regen, Sonne, Schnee usw....dann müssen sie genau so aussehen 😀So gefallen sie mir!!!
