S28 Rifle

I have recently acquired an all matching except bolt S28 Karab98b rifle. I would very much like to put at least an S28 marked bolt in this rifle. I can trade a very nice Simson marked Karab98b bolt or pay cash. I am reaching out to the community as these parts are very difficult to locate. Any help is greatly appreciated. Rick

Rick is a first class collector, an extremely fair collector and his word is platinum, - he is a collector you want to help and get to know, the best sort that never forgets a favor and is reciprocal. In the same class as Mike, Bruce, CB and Dave Davis.

If anyone can help, I urge you to at least consider contacting him. He will be more than fair and if his word is given, you can rest easy.

Yes they are even rarer than the rifles themselves. I have seen bolt parts on other rifles that had passed through my hands and honestly at that time I never knew the significance of the stamp. Have only seen 2 bolt bodies in pictures. Oh well, its good to want..
Hey Bernard can you post a few pics of yours for us to enjoy? Rick

That is a very nice one you have as well ,in fact several nice ones on the last page. I dont normally have much time to soak up at all the great information that is available here. I guess there are more than a few people looking for bolts for these rifles. I will enjoy mine it as it is . I never had much luck at winning lotteries. Good luck in your quest as well!

Hello my friend , been a while . I kick myself in the a$$ now seeing Your 98b and thinking that I didn't by this . Maybe You can contact orig. seller and get put in touch with new owner and try to buy it . There was another member who also passed it by but I won't name names . Best Regards .http://www.ebay.com/itm/252244488552?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Looks like a good 98b bolt but it doesn't appear to be an s28, hard to see the back of the shroud. I have a matching s28 bolt but not to my rifle, I think the only parts marked s/28 are the shroud and firing pin if I remember correctly. I would offer it up but then I'd need one, looks like all our s28's need something. The OP's rifle looks great by the way! One of if not the best s28 I've seen.

An S28 bolt should have every major component marked S28, typically in out of the way locations, on the bolt body it is at the back of the bolt stem, generally where the FP is on a 98k bolt. The gas sleeve will be on the back, seen from the shooter position or when looking at the cocking piece serial/acceptance. The bottom flat will have a "Spandau" type FP (used by DWM & Mauser also) over an acceptance stamp, this acceptance varies, I have noted two types, the Imperial acceptance used by Oberspree (earlier rifles) and an interwar E/s (later rifles) similar to what is seen on the Zeithain HZa (Zn) builds 1924-1928.

The Zn builds are nearly as elusive as the S28 is original condition, might be tougher as I doubt one exists that is fully original and matching, and at least there are a couple S28 known that are. Even among mismatchers and junkers the Zn are less numerous than the S28, probably twice as many are known.

Loewe, thanks for the info, I'll have to look again to see if mine is marked correctly, been a while since I looked at it. I do remember at least the safety is also marked.
