Hi Everyone,

Wanted to share my most recent pick up. I was finally able to add a Dresden Sterngewehr. I’ve been after one for years now and I’m very fortunate to have found such an early one. To my knowledge, Dresden didn’t progress beyond the the NS block in 1915. Due to this, they don’t bear all the characteristic hallmarks of a Saxon Sterngewehr aside from the acceptance and ciphered buttplate. One really unique feature of this rifle is the shrapnel damage to the buttstock. The photos will do the talking but the entry is the size of a pencil lead; the exit, not so much. It really displays the devastating power of artillery.

Glad this one ended up with you. It certainly a rare gun; off hand the only other one I know of is mine. This is also extremely helpful from an observation standpoint because mine has armorer peening, so I wasn't sure if it had a star or not. Yours answers that question definitively! Pretty close to mine in serial number too (5903)

Congrats again on an excellent pickup Sam! In my opinion, the rifle sold for a very fair price. We've got quite the accumulation of sterngewehre within our triumvirate.

The rarities that you all come up with never fail to amaze. It’s in fantastic condition. Congratulations. That shrapnel, what penetrating power.

What a righteous pickup Sam, glad you were happy to finally find one. Always satisfying after a long search. Rifle looks great too. The shrapnel damage adds a lot of character also. Perhaps captured at the same time as Chris' rifle!

Such a fantastic Gew, Sam, i'm so glad you got it! Paired with Chris's example, it gives us a great glimpse of what early Dresdens should look like, and between the two there are a lot of acceptance differences which is very helpful.

Yeah definitely, I was very excited when this one popped up. Confirmed a few things I've wondered for years.

Congrats on picking up a nice Dresden Gewehr! That shrapnel damage really adds a lot of character to this one along with the dual dated receiver, really nice one!
