ax - hole
Never thought something like this would happen with some a rare gem like this. I was so happy, when I finally was able to own one Kar98b for my collection. But a second one, never crossed my mind. When I was helping set up at the SOS show for a friend of mine this year. Another good dealer friend of mine told me during setup, please stop by my table Jordan. Basically I was like, why? He said I have something you might like to see, and it's Simson Weimer related. So don't dilly-dally take a break, and come by my table. When I stopped by his table later there was a wonderful K98k bcd4 with the mg15 barrel in his rifle rack, that another member purchased here. Great rifle, and a wonderful piece very happy for the gentleman that purchased it. But what caught my eye was that 98b in his rack. He smiled and said "well pick the damn thing up and look at it!" As I was checking it out another buddy of mine Marc saw it, and went Jordan stop thinking and buy it! That's a nice gun, and he was right it was. So I told my buddy I'll take it, and hold it for me. Ran into to Bruce as well later on, and he said let me look at it as well. The next morning we both checked it out, and Bruce said it's a nice gun pay your grandpa his money lol! From the bottom of my heart guys thank you, to all three of you!
And what a 98b it is most of this rifle is matching, with very few replaced parts. The only mismatched parts I found was the firing pin, but it's a Simson eagle 6 proof component. And the hand guard, Wa280 proof on the top, most likely a replacement. I did see the bolt release was stamped over to match, but I wonder factory mistake or replaced component? From everything my buddy told me he did nothing to the rifle since he bought it in 1972. Only thing else I can say is the rifle had a really cool 1934 dated Kar98a, 9 hole sling on it.
Still I'm so happy with this one guys, this is such a special rifle to me. Happy to share it with you all, and enjoy the pictures there are a lot!
