Sniper or not

Hi everyone,
I have a K98 here and would like to hear your opinion on it. Some parts look like they match. The mount is very cleanly installed.
What do you think? Is this piece legitimate or put together?

regards Tim

OK - so the number of times someone puts up a K98k with a scope on it not knowing what they have and it turns out to be a legit sniper is a number hovering around zero. I just really really really want to know the backstory to this rifle and how it made it's way to you. Please share!! 😆🍿

The rifle comes from a private source, and no one really knows where it originally came from.
The previous owner can't provide any information as he has passed away.
I've often seen rifles that turned out to be completely misrepresented, so I'm very cautious about this.

You literally almost never see something like this…. Looks mint! Thanks for sharing.

The big question is… are you buying it?

Most time you are right, and people don't have what they think they have. This is definitely an exception.

I'd also be surprised if you don't get a few messages from members here asking where it will be available for sale LOL.

Wow. You have a real single claw sniper. Very nice. Probably a B block from 1944. Interesting it has the checkered butt plate but they were introduced around this time. Thanks for sharing
No serial number on the Barrel are You sure its a 44 and not a 43 SC ??
Beautiful Single Claw rifle regardless of the Year !!!!

Yes. Remember the serial numbers was moved to the barrel later in 1944 after production started again. Factory was bombed during the C block of 1944. When they resume in the D block it is much later in the year. So my guess is 1944. Checkered butt plate wouldn’t be on a 1943 B block either

I know a 43 Single Claw would not or should not have a Checkered butt plate , the lack of serial number on barrel is what had/has me confused .

Like I said, serial number is moved to barrel in about the d block when production is resumed after the bombing.

Example of a B block

Example of an E block
