Does anyone know what this star means or does anyone have a star in their barrel aswell?440FFD90-A384-4D82-99AC-A4D02C496214.jpeg

That was a mark that Walther used for parts that were first rejected and then reworked before they were used on an accepted gun.

Isn't that the east German (VOPO)sunburst mark?

VOPO looks more like a “sunburst” type...I guess you could say.

Like this one:

Not my photo. I borrowed this one from another thread that agentcq did on this Forum.

Here’s a rework star on a P.38 ac44:

Do I also seem to recall the mark was in the out of spec area to be reworked?

That is the accepted meaning in the P38 world. My guess on this particular example is that the diameter of the barrel was off so it had to be machined for the front sight sleeve to fit. Sometimes you see an extra inspection after it was fixed. We see this a lot with Spreewerk slides in particular.

I thought the exact thing. Just like those dimensions are fairly critical on an AK. Those parts have all crazy dimensions that need fitting a lot. Someone had a chart of the known dimensional differences for each part based on country/maker.

I'll have to check my late Spreewerk purchased here. I don't remember if it had any. Does have the rough machining for sure.

definitely not a sunburst or East German property mark
individual parts were not given a sunburst usually frames and receivers sometimes more than once

nice rework stamp

Its crazy how many little things you find on firearms when you take more time to examine them closely. I've had this rifle since January and have never noticed it.

it is one of the cosmetic receivers. It has on the receiver two eagles over 359 one on the left and right, and an eagle over WaA134 on the left as well. Does it have two 359 marks because it was reworked?
