Steyr 1899 Dutch M95 another German capture

Hi,
Just snagged another Dutch M95 German capture. Only have advert photos at present, but will add more when I get it home. Looks to have the usual bits, modded swivel , stock slot and wood plug.
This one looks to have retained the sling stud and washer for the dutch sling. Looking at other examples I sense (guessing?) the slim end of the dutch sling goes through the slot and the two slits fold ontop of each other and slot over the stud (where the brass stud would of gone???)
I notice some Steyrs appear to have another serial number left side of the receiver ?

Looks like a very nice example of this variation.

I believe that the Dutch sling was simply cut to length and then screwed to the stock. The slings are always missing, and the 1 or 2 I have seen that retained their sling, this is how it was done.

The extra number on the side of the receiver is a rework SN. The Dutch did this in the 1900s through sometime in the late teens, maybe? The practice seems to disappear by the late 1920s or early 1930s. Depending on when this was done, you may find the same number stamped (in tiny numbers) on the very top of the buttplate by the top screw along with the date of rework. If it is a later rework, there may be a very small rework acceptance on the flat of the buttplate.

Will check all of these when I get it home. Found a good shot of how the original sling was used before changes, currently searching for another German picture showing the modifications

Right just got this home today and its in good condition. Whilst I don't have £££'s to spend on a Dutch sling , from the spares box I've used a repurposed Schmidt–Rubin sling with a look-a-like (ish) Dutch sling buckle with brass stud. (Note no permanent alteration to the sling). Was able to get sling hole over the stock and washer button without unscrewing. Not 100% correct , but close as I can get at this stage unless anyone wants to sell me a Dutch sling ?

As Ryan expertly pointed out , I was very glad to see numbers on the buttplate. Reads 1899 , 3, 12 . There appears to be a faded number underneath which I will take a closer look at under magnifier glass. May be my eyes.

Edit added some pictures , cleaned the bore (dark but v. good) .
