Syracuse show?

I've not had much time for the hobby lately but looking to get back in it and was thinking of Kicking it off by going to the syracuse show this weekend which I've never attended. Is it worth the trouble? It's a bit of a haul for me. I'm a member of the Forks and attended Allentown regularly and really enjoyed it. How do they compare? Is it many of the same dealers? Sorry mods for the off-topic but not sure where to post this! John p

Good to see you JP. This is just as good a place as any to discuss that show. Shows down here are mainly bi-monthly AR15/AK/glass unicorn/candle/deer jerky extravaganzas.

Cool thx. And yeah I went by the Middletown ny show last week just cause it's close and I think I saw a way to convert my model 1911 in to an mg42 only with spade grips .....or something like that. all black guns! There was a picatinny rail system too where u could mount a swifter and clean your floors if I'm not mistaken.....

Well, I will be there set up with my good buddy for the weekend. I would say it would probably well worth the drive, its the biggest and best show in NY. Its a huge show (by NY standards anyway) and there is always good stuff to be found there. Lots of militaria as well as guns. I have got some really nice WWII German ammo in the 15 round boxes there, good rare stuff...lots of nice guns (although the prices tend to be high, but if you look there are some good gun bargains).

I highly recommend it....

LOL. I will say that region of the country is more prone to have vet items, more vet items are coming out of the closets and basements with the economic downturn, and sadly, the passing of vets. I would make that show if it was driving distance.

You're right about the shows here, Ham.... It seems there is now a gunshow every month in Jackson, and it is ALWAYS "The Big One!" . Same dealers, same guns...... Almost never anything good, and if there is it will walk through the door and not come from a dealer. Almost a quarter of the Jackson show is now made up purse, jerky, and fantasy knife vendors (oh, and of course AirSoft.... ).

Save your money and come to the Forks of the Delaware Arms show in Allentown, PA on October 15 and 16. NO beef jerky, beanie babies, jewelry, coins, baseball cards, and other flea market stuff.
Lots of well known militaria and gun dealers and a great farmer's market across the street.
Saturday 9 to 4 and Sunday 9 to 1.

I go to every Syracuse show, because it's the closest, best gun show to where I live. It's no Allentown, that's for sure, but it's about 1000 tables and will have a nice span of firearms from WWI to black rifles (there's an OH outfit with a goodly selection of uppers and kits, if you're into that sort of thing). Incidentally, if anyone is looking for some decent mismatched Mausers, I'll be trying to get rid of them there... a '39 243 RC (nothing peened, hardwood stock with intact markings) and an ar43 non-RC with a self-matched bolt and sitting in a post-war Israeli stock.

You guys are so cynical- you also forgot the best place to get your glasses cleaned is at the show, and don't forget the candied nuts, nobody mentioned those.

and your knife sharpened......i don't mention the candied nuts because I'm trying to corner the market by buying them all up.
