Cool........

Video footage resurfaced showing Syrian rebels using the German Made STG 44 (Sturmgewehr 44) or also called MP 44 in fighting and firefights on the battlefield in Syria.

Syrian rebels already claimed to have captured about 5000 of this automatic rifles from the Syrian army in 2012 but other footage now shows them using it in action during fighting with the Syrian army.

70 year old gun, built in the worst wartime conditions, and stored in an awful place for years: still works.

Semi auto copies? Ehhh

Take a close look around 0.07" elapsed time: A remote controlled, joy stick operated MP44! Isn't this called a "scalable design" these days?

Would love to sneak in and out with one of those.. Now if could just get some 44 dot tunics on those guys,,

Something strangely prophetic about the tools of the wermacht outliving the engineers of the regime, and 70 years on, doing basically what they were designed to do, if perhaps not as effectively or uniformly wielded - the new owners certainly know how to slaughter each other wholesale.

Apologies for the high faluting prose, but I'm reading Richard F. Burton at the moment, and he didn't think swords (guns) should be collected, but instead used either to save or to subjugate.
"...The sword that guards them, or the sword that beats them down..."
(The Book of the Sword -)

I think he would have approved of the pragmatic Syrian use of the MP44's - and thought us (on the forum) all mad for wanting them in our gun-safes.
But then, he was a Victorian soldier, first, and approved of war on almost every level - and in every form, the bloodier the better.
