Or rather, the angry SS lid midgets attacking with their tiny little key chain knives. DougB's "reward" for spending his time and money to turn on the kitchen light to reveal the existence of roaches. The snide questioning and commentary from the few Nutmeg types is quintessentially waftarded. Watch for the selective censorship next. I've told DougB that we stand behind him.

There must be authentic champagne decals!
It isn't because some are airbrushed and the lot numbers don't make sense that their are no authentic champagne ss decals!

This is my view on this subject matter:

Under the supervision of the Waffen SS, V2 rockets were build in underground factories, so I guess there might have also been a secret Waffen SS unit with an airbrush tool painting Champagne Decals on helmets.
The Waffen SS also had a counterfeit money program, so why wouldn't they have operated a counterfeit decal program?
Also the "original" Chamapgne Decal helmets came from US veterans.
So if we could find out the units of these vets were those that liberated those secret underground factories, there would be a big chance that Champagne Decals are Original wartime painted on decals.
XRF action by Maui proved that they were original and Kelly Hicks, the SS helmet guru has aproved them to, so we just need to determinate the paint compostion of authentic champagne decals and all DougB's discoveries can be thrown out of the window and the sales of champagne decal helmets and XRF pie charts can continue.

You guess wrong. The person contacted me about my thoughts on this via email and he moved the post up so I could see it. If you read the thread the BTT post he asks this.

This is typical of this hobby, when someone tries to do some good they are beaten down by those with an agenda to keep the status quo, or brought into some conspiracy theory like some a-hole who trolled my email accused me of or they are ridiculed by nutmeg right now.

If ZAM wasn't ridiculed this decal scam might have been exposed much earlier but credit to him as it got me thinking.

For my part I fully accept I was swindled as virtually everyone else, including you nutmeg, and still are by the inadvertent BS that is XRF and reputation based collecting. I have no ego, I just want to know what is right and what is wrong and help the hobby.

And for those who have not read the thread on GHW2 or have read it and do not comprehend basic English, I paid a member $8000 back on a helmet SS Steel sold with a KH COA that with my research I felt was bad, even though the COA was not honoured despite proof the decal is not a decal but paint.

I paid thousands of dollars to reach a definite conclusion, not a hypothesis Bob I. But you go on selling your crap and believing what you want to believe. Dealers like you have a vested interest in propping one person up to be your expert because you dont take the time or invest the money to really know what the **** is real and what is not. Guys like you just want to peel the money out of collectors pockets.

I knew my exposing this decal would paint me as a target as well.

Enjoy the hobby everyone. I am done with it as an active buyer and will enjoy what I have kept in my collection.

This hobby is corrupt, filled with ego, and forums like this make it a very unenjoyable experience to say the least.

Damn. That's the most thorough destruction of something that I've seen in a while. They didn't see that coming. Well done DougB.

ill say one thing, that this is a love hate relationship with this hobby. its because of scammers like these dirt bags that kept me from buying anything SS cause of it being widely fake. I've head it on here before, buy the rifle not the story, and those are words to live by when collecting this stuff.

>Luvk, when I got involved in the hobby as a young teen in the early 80s I even knew then to steer clear of SS. I couldn't afford it and didn't know enough to keep from getting fleeced.

I've pass up so much SS stuff rifles, helmets, uniforms, list gos on. And ill take an educated guess that 2/3 of that stuff or more was fake.
the last gun show was at guy had k98 on table claiming SS with a sh!t skull stamp on the receiver, lmfao top of receiver was stamp DOT.
I just laugh and kept walking.
