The nicest Gew98 1915 DWM I have ever seen.

I really hope one of our members here ended up with this rifle. Too be honest this has got too be one of the best looking Gew98 rifles I have seen come up for sale. And it happened too be someone I know. Seller has a great reputation at the NGD shows and the SOS shows. I do more business with his brother but Mr. Richard Crosier is a very honest seller and collector. Anyway if you ever want too see how a Gew98 rifle left the DWM factory in 1915. Well here it is and what a piece it is!

Didn't sell cheap either but some collectors have waited well over 20 years for chance too buy one like this. After all finding one in this condition is damn near impossible.

Going too post a link too the auction, as well as some pictures here for the records.

I'm not a big fan of the highly polished bolt and receiver. Way too much money too...

Far too much money, an all matching 1898 Mauser Oberndorf (Military) with un-modified gas ports and un-shielded firing pin went for a little less than double on proxibid last year. Which was literally a once in a lifetime rifle. Nice gun, but I have to agree it looks a little too bright, the bayonet lug and stock disk are a better assessment of what the receiver probably looked like.

Nice piece, but I too think the receiver has been over cleaned. The finish on the barrel bands looks strange as well.

Could it be the lighting in the pictures giving the receiver area a brighter look too it by chance. Too be honest would like too hear Loewe's opinions on this rifle.

Limited internet service, so my time on the forum is not it typically was... I like the rifle, I think this was CB's old rifle if I remember correctly. I think it has been touched up and polished, but that was very common a couple decades ago. I also think the pictures culd be part of the problem. Not too many are as good as Mike and Bob at photography.
