The odd world of Iraqi K-98"s

Decided to post some pics of my two "late War" Iraqi K-98's. The top is an BCD 4 with the RC "X" on the reciever. Completly force matched but with stamps rather than electro pencils. The only stock marking I found was a boxed "K9" in the sling cutout. The bottom is an SWP 45 complete mismatch but with no RC "X". The bolt is also numbered on the stem similar to the Yugo M-48 rifles. The stock is a mystery to me. Im guessing post war. Not sure if its elm or not. The stock aso is less beefier than the standard K-98. On a final note both butts have been drilled completly through both sides for the bolt dissassembly. One can only imagine the route these weapons took. Every once in a while we would turn up K-98's during searches. All were mismatched and had RC markings. I know Iraq was allied with Germany in WWII but my assumption is the Iraqi K-98's went to Iraq after the British left in the 50's. Enjoy Chris

I like the Jeem marked 98k's, but don't have one. I've got too much other stuff to get, and have to temper myself. :)

I'd like to find a nice jeem marked DDR etc. k98k. There are usually several at auction, just haven't seen the right one. Thanks for posting those Chris.

They are addicting but Ive limited myself to these two. These K-98's defy all collectors logic. My advice is dont put too much K-98 collectors logic into them. Over there anynithing goes. Youll drive yourself nuts like a trekie and a star wars nerd going at it at a sci-fi convention. Just my opinion. Chris

There was one at the SOS for $900.

It was a real nice force matching with sling, almost too nice it wasn't in the white.

It didn't have that RC look to it. It had original blue.
