Thuringen .22 DSM-34 SA stamped

Well, maybe the Owner overlooked it. I will know soon.

QUOTE=KKW22cal;133252]Mine is marked in both places[/QUOTE]

Most of them are numbered both on barrel and receiver, but in the lower numbers there tends to be less consistency in their marking practices, as I stated earlier. They were more consistent with the marking later, and you would likely have seen the serial number next to the nitro proof mark on your barrel. Not a problem, by any means. The consortium in Zella-Mehlis had fewer players than did the group in Suhl. It was mostly just Venus and Weihrauch, with a few others taking occasional advantage of the opportunity to purchase and finish a DSM with their own trademark (Diem, Schmidt, B.u.A., and very possibly Paatz). Some even have the model designation "Deutsches Sportmodell" stamped on LEFT side of receiver where the address line usually appears.

I wanted to let you all know I acquired the rifle yesterday. Just posted it in the Sale thread with lots of pictures. Thank you all for your advice.

As requested. Pics of the bolt markings. With and without flash.

Most of these seem to have un-numbered bolts. That's what most agree is correct. The bolt looks like its coated with something ???
Over the orig. blue... You can see the nice high polish plumb bluing then something over it ?

So I am questioning the finish now. Therefore I took it apart . It appears as a matt black as opposed to normal gun blue. Were they made with different finishes other than traditional Blue? Could they have been finished in paint? You can see a fingerprint in the finish. I took it apart and it is uniformly the same finish, whatever it is. Here are pictures.

Might be some original finish peeking through in a spot or two, but this appears to have been treated with the same sort of dip-tank paint job that the Russians used. Would be a job to remove that and restore a finish. Possible to do, but will not be the original finish ever again.

OK Steve, thanks for the input. At least I feel certain about it now.
