I'm extremely fortunate and grateful to have had the opportunity to purchase this one from another member who has been a friend and mentor to many of us over the years. While 1918 dated rifles are rare in general, an example from the consortium was something I thought was out of reach. Having two other 1918 dated rifles, and this one is by far my favorite. It's always fun to compare the part acceptance with other consortium manufactured rifles. Compared with my 1917 Haenel, the stock, small parts. and barrel were supplied by the same member firms. Funny thing is, this VCS has a Haenel receiver but my Haenel has a receiver made by one of the other firms. Unless they had another inspector.
