VZ24 - German Rework

This was the last rifle in a buddy of mines estate back in 2002. Nobody wanted it, because it didn't have any nazi marks. I looked it over, found a small marking on the toe of the buttstock and figured what the heck. The stock, handguard, bolt and receiver are all number matching to the original build. The bolt components are pencil etched to match. The firing pin has the full serial number (including the "F1") pencil etched onto it and also "01" stamped into it. The floorplate has also been numbered. All in all it looks pretty boring, hardly any modifications. But when you take it out of the stock, it becomes a little more interesting. It was rebarreled using a WW1 Gew98 barrel that was cut to length, fitted to the receiver and had the VZ2424 sights installed on it. It has the new firing proof on the barrel. The best I can make out for the rework marking is, HZa jt20, but if that's wrong.I'm open to suggestions.

Very interesting barrel!

You are right on the acceptance, Jt20. Shows up a lot on Polish guns and some early(?) depot built P08s. Probably in use 1939-1941 ish.

Looks like nice refurbishment with older barell, the rifle was unit stamped to 10.Inf.Regiment of Czechoslovak Army, could be shooted out in 1939 after 13 years. 10IR was located in Brno.
