Hi everyone!

I have this spare barrel, i think it was a gewehr 98m barrel which was sent to spain and chopped by the importers... (yea one of those nasty ones)

Anyway the chamber area of the barrel has 3 consecutive waffemamts E/WaA214 ive never seen something like this i will attach a picutre. if someone could run me through the information on this barrel, that would be greatly appreciated. WaA214 is Sauer&Sohn correct?

Yes ,In this case the 214 is for Sauer. The G marking is the date code for 1935 and the ,02 on the barrel shoulder means Armorers replacement, most likely for the 98m. What are the markings on the rear sight base and sight parts. Is what's left of it 98k length or longer?

Thanks guys!
I'm going to send a pic of the barrel length, and how they butchered it, really really, sucks that they did this to such a cool barrel, but oh well.
I'm also going to attach the sight components.

It is k98 length left over, i wonder if the front sight could set the front sight back some to make it look more correct.

As stated, it was produced as an ordnance spare, and the 0,2 marked upon completion of the blank, that’s why the 0,2 can fall anywhere radially on the shoulder depending on where the barrel clocks upon headspacing. These Spanish imports sure did kill a lot of neat Weimar era rifles.

If you cut that ugly sight off and re-crowned it, would you still have 98k length?
I forgot to ask if the bore is nice, if not, there's no sense in. trying to salvage it,

yes, it would still be k98 length.
The bore is pristine it looks very good.

Can you send a close up pic if the side and the muzzle end of this sight base, I'm not familiar enough with how they're made?

Nice, might have to take a look at it, i wonder how i would re mount the front sight though

You would cut off the Spanish sight, throw it in the trash, re-crown the muzzle and solder on a cool Nazi front sight base that's cut for a hood.

Gew98 sights are sleeved just like a vz24, they cut the sleeve down on this Gew98 sight though. The barrel diam is too large for roughly 6” so it would have to be turned down that far to replicate a 98k barrel’s dimensions.

Oops, Sorry Clay, I overlooked that minute detail, But it's still doable !:happy0180:

Yes, from the limited photos of actual German done Gew 98-K98k conversion barrels that were cut down, they machined the barrel down to the correct diameter from final step to the muzzle. Obviously, that is NOT something Interarms did when they converted these. It's possible the front sight base is a German surplus K98k base. When these were cut into sporters, they just machined the barrel enough to slide the base on...barely.

I think you're correct Stan but I'd still shitcan the base, you can see in the photos that it's been bastardized by the Spanish.

It's been ground down in the front at some goofy angle, for what reason only God knows, Probably because they just couldn't resist F-ing it up.
