Warning: Spammers, Scammers, Hackers, Bots

I remember dealing with this BS back when I ran PHPBBs. Just need strict manual approval of new members and yeah there are sleepers

Maybe this is why nobody has replied to my introduction. They think I'm a bot.. 😳😂
OR, possibly because you’ve posted a half dozen times since joining in Feb, but just did the intro yesterday. Not that there are rules about such things, but it looks sorta fishy. More likely you just got lumped in with the recent “drive by” crowd who seem to make demanding posts, argue when they get answers, and generally seem angry about things.
( not that YOU did any of those things)

Four IPs, Nashville TN and OK. Probably legit, most don’t go to this trouble.

A couple here have gotten popped as clear spammers / bots. Yall know what to look for. If we all put in just a little effort in picking up pieces of trash here and there we can keep our community relatively clean (y)

weird thing, joined in ‘21, but waited til early AM today to post spam???
Probably a compromised account. Someone signed up to look at something or ask a question or whatever 4 years ago, forgot about the account, and a spammer got into it. It happens all the time because of people reusing passwords. The database over at some website gets breached, the usernames and passwords get pulled out, and they end up on one of the big master lists that spammers use to try and brute force accounts.

I'm on a few different message boards where there's been a pretty steady uptick in accounts that were once upon a time active but haven't been touched in years, sometimes decades, all of a sudden showing up to sing the praises of some phone game or sell leggings or whatever.
