Would love to know the history of this particular k98 rifle

Hmmm I guess I haven’t looked at enough FN stocks. Did they make K98k spec rifles for anyone beside the Germans? IIRC, both my stocks were sold as Israeli surplus leftovers, but that might not be true. They were just random sellers, not gun shops. I don’t believe there are any marks on either.

FN never made complete K98k rifles for the Germans during WW2, just parts. They did make a close copy of the K98k for Israel in late 1940's or early 50's. These are the rifles with the Star of David IDF crest. The stocks were just like the OP's with grasping grooves and the short band spring on the lower band. I assume FN made these per Israeli request be compatible with all the wartime K98k's and post war Czech Vz.98N that were in service as far as general features. To my knowledge, FN never sold this same pattern to anybody but Israel.
