WTK: Did the Germans Force Match Bayonet S/Ns to Scabbards?

It appears the S/N is over stamp on another S/N. If I advertise this how should I describe it as a forced matched S/N and by whom? I did get this from an estate sale and I was told it was brought home GI.

Question is the reserialing period, as the blade and pommel of bayonet is well preserved, the scabbard was heavily cleaned from rust, evidently it was reserialed to bayonet,normally the code was not restamped, as only serial number was important, so hard to say, but for me not period done.
 
Surprised to see the M9 bayonet which seems to have hitched a ride. I collect these and have some pretty had to find ones, too...

I took pictures of both Bayonets together for a future posts in Craigslist. I have a first year M9 made by Buck.
