Got this scope awhile back and thought about trying to find a rifle to put it on but, I’m planning to move into a different direction. Wanted to get a reasonable value as I do want to sell it. I’d like to also know what it is. If anyone is willing to help out I’d appreatiate it!

Hello Beef. That’s an early AR ZF41 type 1 scope worth maybe $300 to $400. The can is late war tan. Worth about $300.

Both look original. However, I personally have never seen a numbered tan can. Looks like can was numbered to a BYF ZF41. Doesn’t mean they weren’t, just unusual I think.

You can ask more money, but I think you would have to sit on it or perhaps EBay, but you would have to pay all the fees. Lot more hassle with EBay. Good luck with your sale. Others may have opinions as well.

Edit: Can would be worth more if cloth is there. I can’t tell in your photos.

My estimate would be considerably higher based on what complete (with brush and cloth) and nice units sell for. I would think in the $1000.00 -1200.00 range. My 2 cents anyway.

I have paid $1000 for a matched can and scope on Gunbroker and about $1100 for a matched can and scope at another lesser known auction. Both had a cloth and a brush.

So, if you look you get better prices. I have bought just tan cans that were not numbered off of EBay and at a local show for $300. I personally would not pay what your quoting here. The scope is nice, but the can is numbered. Maybe correct, but most tan ones are not.

I sold a really nice cleaned optics matched numbered can and matched numbered scope (matched to each other) at OGCA for $1000.00 6 months ago to a member here. Sure I know a guy asking $600 for a green numbered can with no scope, but last I knew he still has it.

That’s what auctions are for. Put this up for auction and see what you get. Maybe you’ll get a couple of guys into a bidding war.

For sale on a website, here is another tan can that is numbered. F block is near the end when they stopped the first time so I bet they are correct.
