to answer your questions, yes i put the taper pin holes in the receiver. I considered this my shooter rifle, and wished to complete it. i did not openly deceive anyone, the rifle no longer exists. It was stripped and destroyed. So you can take off your list of rifles.

Stripped and destroyed? Hell of an admission of guilt.

John.

Such a sad ending.

"The rifle no longer exists. It was stripped and destroyed. So you can take off your list of rifles."

You have to understand how that sounds much more like "please forget about this rifle so I can sell it once the heat is off."

That was quite an expensive "shooter rifle" you had there!
As long as you destroyed the once nice rifle I suppose its all good now...

While we all have had some pretty bad luck boating and have all lost many, many guns overboard, I have a feeling that this one will resurface at a future time and place.

If not, and if it really was destroyed, that’s a pretty sad ending for what that once was.

Could people PLEASE stop fucking up good honest guns? Please? If you want to make your own super duper sniper rifle then weld together a BB gun and a cheap old Tasco scope and go out in the woods and face down the Red Horde. Otherwise stop ruining original and honest K98s.

I didnt know this was going to make such a stink. I offered the rifle because he said he was looking for one. I took a number of pics and forwared them to him to look it over. He declined because he said some other members questioned some parts on the rifle, that he had contacted. I wasnt trying to twist anyones arm to purchase the piece in question, nor did i make any promises of the rifles originality. It is an LSR receiver and parts were added.I hope this is over with. I think i will take the parts off of the rifle , they are real. Regards to all .

Andrew i am sorry if there was misrepresentation of this rifle. I did say it was probably a 1945 date rifle due to its late style proofing. I did think this was all settled between us when we talked. The rifle was presented on the boards a year or two ago as a project rifle and pictured then, but my memory has taken a hit from the stroke. Hoping you well regards to all. About the bolt, it is the same bolt and striker i got with it from Rich , and the butte plate is checkered inside as well as out. Everyone has their opinions, lets let it lay.

Darnell I dont remember you being a third party to my phone calls with Andrew, why are you making this personnal?

I am not going to waste any time to pick this pathetic attempt of an explanation or "mea culpa" apart piece by piece as it is utterly preposterous and absolutely shameful on its face. It's almost as disgusting as destroying the rifle and trying to resell same as original to begin with. Full stop.

Well said my friend. There’s no way out of this and destroying the gun out of spite is abominable. ALMOST as bad as ruining it in the first place.

People: there is something bigger here. We have kind of a stewardship of these pieces of history. A ... Responsibility? Do no harm in restoring or preserving.

STOP.
RUINING.
GUNS.

Dave You destroyed the Rifle the moment you drilled the pin holes for the Base . As if that wasn't bad enough , You then tried to sell it to a fellow collector as an Original 1945 assembled LSR which You knew was Untrue. IMO there is no doubt You knew exactly what You were doing and what you had done to the rifle .

The end game is you took a unique variation of a k98k and ruined it. If you wanted to make this rifle a shooter then you should have advertised it as a shooter if you decided to sell it off one day. Which to me is already shameful enough because again I hate seeing rifles ruined. Plus even if it was advertised as that, it would surely enough take advantage of somebody else down the road. And then you tried to pull the wool over somebody's eyes and sell it to them as original. There's an old saying about that from my great-uncle " Looks like someone thought they were going to stick a fat hog in the a$$."

And no I don't think this rifle was destroyed. You can remove that mount and base all you want. Again it will be passed off as original one day by either you or somebody else. Like Dave Roberts stated as soon as you drilled it that was the end of this rifle.

Does anyone really believe he destroyed the rifle? Just like he didn’t misrepresent it by saying it was 100% original….then suddenly did misrepresent it but somehow forgot he drilled it and put pins in it and put a mount and scope on it. Not trying to be a jerk but man when you’re caught this red handed just admit it

As soon as I saw this, I thought, “yeah right” (the rifle was “destroyed”)..........

It will probably end up in Rock Island or other auction.

Is it possible to compile and stickey a list of all known three hole unfinished LSR's so there is a cross check if any ends up converted by fakers at some point?
Those will be extinct in the future unless protected by true collectors. Sort of like it is easier to find SS helmet than once common non decal one.

Do pictures of the destroyed rifle exist?

A 100% spot on observation of a complete and totally dishonorable / inexcusable act, done, it is my belief, to pass it as original to the unsuspecting, for monetary gain.....

The maximum effective range of the lame excuses this man comes up with, who did this, is ZERO meters.

You say , (I didnt know this was going to make such a stink). IMO the only reason You would think such a thing is , because You thought theres no way anyone would recognize that rifle or even remember it and You had everything figured and you would never get caught .

You believe taking the parts off the rifle is suppose to make everything better and now we should all just go back to being friends like this never happened . Sorry theres no justify what You tried to do to Andrew or any chance this is going to just be swept under the rug and forgotten . Theres no forgetting an act of dishonesty such as this .
