Suffix on Kar98?

Recently purchased Erfurt 1918 dated Kar98, having trouble identifying the suffix letter. I would say it is a Y but does not match the chart I have.

It is y and this is a damn fine example, - it was was detailed in 2001 by a well-respected collector and it has a good pedigree (past owner had an eye for quality!)

Thank you, on the chart I had it looked like an incomplete lower case "g" but it looked more like a "y" to me so I thought I would ask for clarification since my vision is not what it used to be.

This one came from a long time friend and Mauser collector who is a member of the forum. I need to search for the detail post on it, is that post in this section?

Here is what it looked like in 2001, probably auction pics

2004 from a collector in Alabama, part of a three way discussion, never seen it on this forum, though this is not the only rifle he owned that popped up here recently.

Probably a different owner, once owned by a collector in Alabama, the only thing I saved was the 2004 text, which stated it all matching and saw little action. This collector is known for being taciturn but friendly, rarely active on the forum, - a fine example!

Thank you very much for the photos and information, rifle still looks like it did in the photos, it has been well taken care of over the years.
