    Troubleshooting assistance: Safety Operation

I don't know how I missed that when I bought it. Thanks for the info. I usually do a much better job inspecting firearms before buying them but this was my first K98k so I guess I got blinded. Luckly I paid well below current market value for it so I am still pleased. By the way Pisgah, I...

    Is this a good first K98 bayonet? 43 ASW / 1938 Scabbard

Good Afternoon. I stumbled on this bayonet in my rounds yesterday. Being new to K98s I'm even newer to bayonets. Here are the details as best I can relate. Scabbard marked E.u.F. Horster over 1938. On the other side a non matching SN: 658? v. Blade on one side is marked 43 asw (which I see...

    Troubleshooting assistance: Safety Operation

Good afternoon. I have been trying to determine the problem and solution with My RC bcd43. Here are the symptoms. I cock the rifle. Move safety all the way to the right and pull the trigger and there is a slight "click" I move safety to the center position, pull the trigger and another...

Nice RC 43 bcd with many "correct" parts

Thanks guys! Thank You M1903A3 and Shaun. I thought it looked pretty good compared to other RCs I'd seen lately. I have a couple more on layaway that I think look pretty good too, a 41 bnz. and a 1940 337. The 337 doesn't have an "X" either. I now have a bolt m/m that I love and may...

Nice RC 43 bcd with many "correct" parts

Vielen Dank! I appreciate it. I found this interesting because, from my very limited knowledge, I thought the odds of "correct"but subcontracted parts making it back into an RC to be kinda remarkable. I don't see any WaA on the stock, but I understand that might be correct for a bcd43?

no love for RCs? It appears there isn't much interest in this rifle. I thought there were some interesting feature. I still love her though! That said, any info on the markings/features I mentioned are appreciated!

FINALLY, my first Non-RC "Bolt M/M" rifle

Would replacement stocks also be stamped in the channels? Of course could just be during transition timeframe or possibly worker forgot and stamped it? Who knows for sure.

Nice RC 43 bcd with many "correct" parts

Well, now that I have shown my first bolt m/m here is my first ever K98k (by 3-days). A pretty nice RC Gustloff Werke bcd 43. The "X" is a avery crisp "times new roman" X not a haphazard stamp. It has pretty unique barrel sub-contractor codes. "ch" from Fabrique Nationale and DEW from...

FINALLY, my first Non-RC "Bolt M/M" rifle

More pics. Here are a few more pics. I believe the small mark/logo on the barrel is a Ruhrstahl "Bat" logo, there is also a plain "R" next to WaA 135. Otherwise this rifle is very devoid of markings. Pretty typical for 1943 and later rifles. Handguard and stock channels have matching SN...

FINALLY, my first Non-RC "Bolt M/M" rifle

I need better eyes! I could read it but was having trouble making it out. Thank you! It does make you wonder about Dresden. The interesting thing to me about collecting non-US weapons is that it has made me really think and want to study or understand the other perspectives beyond what...

FINALLY, my first Non-RC "Bolt M/M" rifle

Didn't even notice! I didn't even see the suffix on the bolt handle root. I saw the four digits everywhere else. I can't make out the letter, doesn't even really look like a letter but matters not to me. Would have been pretty cool though. The bore is excellent! As a guy who has been...

Russian Capture Gustloff Werke with Bohler-Stahl barrel Good afternoon and welcome. I am a newbie here as well and there is much you can learn once you look. The "picture reference" page is of great help and there are many "stickys," threads, etc that will answer many questions. I believe...
