    K43 accessories book project

Can't wait to see the book when it's done, I'll definitely be interested in picking one up when it's published.

Need help figuring out markings and rifle worth

The 817 is an assembly number that the Yugos put on the rifle and matches the 817 on the bolt. I believe the T* is a Yugoslavian inspection stamp of some sort.

Need help figuring out markings and rifle worth

To echo what's been said already, this is a Yugo reworked K98k and you did just fine for the price. The Yugos were pretty thorough in removing German markings on most of the external metal, and these were often rebarreled by Yugoslavia after WWII. Looks like some of the German inspection stamps...

Help with the history of this rifle

Welcome to the forum. Going off the pics you posted, you have a Russian Capture K98k, with the receiver being made by Mauser-Borsigwalde out of Berlin (ar code) in 1943. With the Russians captured K98ks, they would strip them down, refinish the rifles and put the rifles back together from...

    BNZ 45 S Block - Repost w/ Better Pictures

I think updated pictures are always something that will always be appreciated, camera quality has advanced so much over the past decade that the reference examples from a decade ago look terrible in comparison to anything posted lately. Lovely rifle, definitely has that Steyr crude charm. I...

I need help with this barrel maker

Agreed on this one being a Portuguese contract barrel, most likely a M937A judging by the the serial number. WaA63 is the acceptance for Mauser Oberndorf which made the Portuguese contract rifles and the barrel code looks like 1937 dated blank made by Ruhrstahl(?) with a lot code of 39 unless...

    1909 Spandau Gew 98 4497a

That's a sweet prewar Spandau, having the factory bolt, stock, and triggerguard assembly is pretty awesome on a prewar rifle like this. A bit surprising that there's no unit marking on the disc but still, a very nice stock on it. Congrats on picking this one up!

    GunBroker Kar 98a - W/Every Accessory - Bad Bolt

I was watching this one too but the bolt definitely gave me pause as well as the recoil lug being put in backwards since I'm not too familiar with interwar era refurb examples. Very neat to see a nice example of a legit action cover and Imperial era S84/98 though they're missing the flash...

Another fantastic example, thanks for sharing this one and pointing out the simplifications.

    1945 Haenel StG44 y block duo.

A fantastic pairing, I really do like the two-tone look of the later y block. Very interesting to see the production differences side by side within the same letter block by Haenel and awesome photos!

    Newly acquired K98 1940 42

To answer your question, the date is the stock manufacturing date. And the date code isn't the conventional day-month-year, it's day-week-year. So the stock is dated to the fifth day of the second week of 1940.

    Haenel StG44 y block/45

I never bother checking RIA since I can't afford anything that goes through there but nice to see that you scored a minty one through them. If I was the lucky guy that inherited a StG44, I'd never sell it but that's just me.

Congrats on a nice honest dot 1943, always nice to find one that hasn't been sanded and matching.

    Haenel StG44 y block/45

It's a dream of mine to get a working StG44 of some kind one day and that beauty is a perfect example of what I strive for. Thanks for sharing such great pictures of this one, definitely a stunning example! Where'd you find this one if you don't mind me asking?

    1915 Danzig 8441 a Gew98

Congrats on snagging a nice Danzig with a bunch of cool accessories. A really neat find with some depot work to boot. I must have missed this auction, seems like a bunch of cool Gewehr 98s are coming out of the woodwork now.

    Radfahrer Gew 98, Spandau 1914 SN 1420

You ought to buy a lottery ticket with that kind of luck, that's an exceptional find! The condition on this one is fantastic too, and still having a correct radfahrer bolt while mismatched is the cherry on top. Congrats on picking up this one!

    Danzig 1918 Gew98

Looks like you got a Gewehr 98M that started life as a 1918 Danzig Gewehr 98, became Reichwehr property (the 1920 mark), got an updated rear sight, and ended up in Spanish use, likely during the Spanish Civil War (the MP8 is a Spanish marking).

    New to me 42 1940

Nice tiger striping on the stock, you said 80% of it is matching but what parts are mismatched?

    1906 DWM Navy Gew 98 2072 1st Matrosen Division / Werft Kiel

That's a wonderful example of a Naval Gewehr, normally the ones I see are usually pretty rough but the bluing and stock on this one are fantastic. Congrats on picking up such a nice one and sharing some awesome pics of it!
