1939 G29o 660 with stock takedown disk

Hello,
I need help in determining whether a G29o that I have is correct. It was recently purchased. It is the only one I have seen with a stock takedown washer instead of a one sided ID disk. The rifle is all matched aside from a K98k bolt and I had no question about the numbering or the stock finish. This the first G29o I have really handled and at time of purchase thought nothing wrong seeing a takedown disk on a German Mauser. Subsequent research I have not seen another like it. The disk is not perfectly mounted, slightly cantered in the wood on one side but the tube inside is centered and the washers seem correctly flush to the tube. They are marked Waff #4 on both sides. Everything else on the rifle is the usual waff #623. Please let me know about the rifle and whether the disk could be correct. The best answer of course would be a photo of another rifle with the same modification. Please also note the "12" on the wrist, not sure if that has any bearing. All commentary welcome, don't worry about my feelings, just want to know what's correct.
Thanks,
Diehard

Apparently it went in for repair at one time due to the fact it has a sight hood. The disk was probably added at the same time.

I have seen very few of these G29o in this condition or with the upgrades this one has . Very Nice . Thank You for sharing it . Best Regards

Sight hood

That never dawned on me about the sight hood but as I look closer it is clearly and cleanly slotted for the hood it has. I guess that was not original to it in 1939 either.

Good point, thanks!

First off, this a beautiful rifle. Top condition, crisp stamps and awesome wood. Congratulations on your pick up! I know there are a LOT of people that would love to add that to their collection.

Can you get us some photos of the marking on the stock wrist? Where the number 12 is? Your answer may lay there.

Stock markings

Sorry, I'll post better pics when I can take it outside. The two eagles near the "12" are the standard Eagle 623 that I've seen on all the other ones. I looked for a "SU4" or something but didn't see one. The "12" was the only oddity that stood out.
Appreciate your response,
Diehard

Waff #4

Looking at the pics again and from memory I think it is stick eagles over a single "4". There is no "su" or "wAA". I'll double check later but pretty certain.
Thanks,
Diehard

Stock washer and wrist eagles

Photos taken using magnification.

The stock wrist eagles around the # 12 marking are both seem to be 623.
The stock washer is stick eagle 4 on both sides.

Does anyone know the meaning of the #12?
Any significance to the stick eagle 4?

Thanks for the help so far.
Diehard

additional marking

I scoured the gun with a flashlight and magnifier and could find no additional markings. Only eagles are 623 and no other letters or numbers other than the "12".

Can anyone explain the eagle 4 on the stock disk? is there a correlation between Eagle 4 and the Luftwaffe or Luftwaffe Depot?

Thanks,
Diehard

The bsw / gustloff connection

Based on what I have seen of the Luftamp Depot guns, the BSW/Gustloff parts and receivers were used to make the Luftwaffe depot reworks. G29o is also Luftwaffe, might end up in the same depots. maybe E/4 explains it.

Thanks,
Diehard
